A Swedish / English study suggests that overweight people in the worst known motor coordination rudimentary already in childhood. Possibly, the awkwardness of some children an indication of an increased risk of obesity and cognitive problems in the future. Previously it was assumed that the obesity risk for mental problems at the age increases.

Seven-year-old with poor coordination were therefore compared to normal motor gifted children twice as high risk, later to become overweight. Unerforscht remained the link between obesity and awkwardness and whether children might be more cumbersome bewegungsarme occupations prefer.
